Abstract
The AVALON project is a collaborative initiative aimed at developing innovative technologies in the field of underwater optical wireless communications. The project focuses on creating advanced methodologies, protocols, and algorithms to enhance secure, reliable, and efficient communication systems. AVALON aims to bridge the gap in current underwater communication capabilities by integrating optical reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (ORIS) and leveraging cutting-edge machine learning techniques for autonomous system optimization. The project targets applications in both military and civilian sectors, aiming to revolutionize underwater surveillance, infrastructure monitoring, and strategic defence communications.
IANUS' Role
IANUS serves as the Communication and Dissemination Manager within the AVALON project. Its primary responsibilities include creating and managing market channels for defense stakeholders and policymakers. IANUS is strategically positioned to foster partnerships with all SMEs in the consortium and potential spin-off companies. Additionally, IANUS is tasked with disseminating the project's scientific outcomes and innovations through participation in national and regional events, online publications, social media engagement, and organization of project events. Their role ensures that the advancements made in the AVALON project reach a wide audience, facilitating the uptake of the project’s innovations by the defense sector and academia .
